A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.

Genesis 1

“In the beginning…”

Just about every culture across this pretty little blue planet has mused about how we all got here. I love the account we inherit through our religious tradition which is a redaction of many older traditions and date back thousands of years.

In the beginning was God. That is a given. From our finite perspective it is hard to understand something which just is. Something that never wasn’t nor never won’t be. But this marvelous being hovers over the primordial waters of the earth and simply wills us all into being.

And the beauty of everything, day, night, birds, sea creatures, animals and, even humans, they are deemed by this all powerful and all eternal being to be “good”.

Nothing exists without its intimate connection to its surrounding and reliance on something else. What we are a part of is so much bigger than we can comprehend and within and through it all is God.

Just take a BIG deep breath and enjoy it!

Ahhh….

The Season of Creation is an ecumenical event which, in Australia, coincides with the beginning of Spring, and runs from September 1 until October 5. It is a time of celebrating the beauty of the earth and the splendour of creation, and to enjoy reflecting on God’s great gifts to us in land, sea and sky and all that they contain.
