A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.
John 1:1-18
Light. When it’s dark, it’s the one thing we crave. But in southern Australia, due to some phenomena about the way that Ozone molecules are frozen by the Antarctic, you can quickly have too much of a good thing. Thus, many of us now, on the advice of the cancer council, slip, slop, slap, SP50 grade, and carry on enjoying the warmth of the great white disk in the sky. What a great species we are, adapting once again to an environmental disaster we kind of caused. Except that more and more Australians are suffering from a vitamin D deficiency which, guess what?,, is caused by lack of exposure to the Sun.
Yep!, We can’t bear direct exposure to the Sun for too long, and yet we need to bare those solar collection appendages at some point, lotion free, for the sake of our health!
In relation to Jesus then, why on earth do we choose darkness instead of the light? He never gave anyone cancer, yet I have heard many stories where he has taken it away. Darkness doesn’t understand the light and I know that I keep too much of my soul in the shade!
As we commence our GPS (God Positioning System) focus month, we need to direct our dish to the Light. Not the sun or the moon or the street lamps or the chandeliers in our living room… but the Light from which all light comes from. We need to bask in the light of Christ. We need to overcome my Vitamin J deficiency!
