A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.

Ahhh… timtumili minanya.

When I do my work in front of the splendid panorama of Rowallan Park on muwinina country, I often think of how much more beautiful it was ‘ab-origine’(from beginning (latin)). Timtumili minanya (River Derwent) was filled with the spouts andsongs of whales and seals and the isthmus across from us was covered in leafy green bushland. And not a telegraph pole in sight!

‘Ab-origine’ (from beginning), the palawa nations of lutruwita walked softly on the land they belonged to, and lived harmoniously with her rich variety of species, many now extinct or facing extinction. And, post invasion, a great deal of their practices, rituals and intimate knowledge of these waters and lands have met the same fate. And this is why, I feel that ‘Creare Ab Origine’ (creator from beginning, also latin) compells us to be mindful and mournful of all that is lost when lands are invaded and stolen and broken.
