A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.

Matthew 20:1-16

Speak about “Not Fair!”

This parable takes this concept to the next level. We see a lot of people these days who have a sense of “entitlement”. Whether it is taken from a perception of social or demographic status, birthright, national heritage, intellectual prowess, work ethic, or just a keen self-acuity of awesomeness, we all have a sense that we are worth something and owed something quantifiably relative to all of these factors.

We also perceive that there are members of our society that are less. Less smart, less hard working, and… a lot less awesome, and thus worth less of the privileges that we feel entitled to. So the kingdom of heaven is like… like a God who sees value and apportions value to a set of criterion which is a complete mystery to us.

Simply because God is God!

So we are given the privilege of being a child of God for living a life of moral forti-tude… just as a career thief who repents on his death bed is.

Not fair you reckon?

Well, whose salvation is it to give anyway?
