A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.

Luke 1:47-55

“My soul magnifies the Lord”

That is a lovely thing to say Mary, but have you ever thought about what an absurd statement that is to make? How does a mere human, make bigger the biggest entity in the universe? But we’re not talking physics here, even though in Mary’s situation we could make a case. In pure societal terms, Mary was nobody in particular but now, she is the mother of God! Like a good mum, her soul is poured into the incarnate child who is being magnified as He gestates within her womb!!!

Hmmm…

I reckon what Mary expresses here is a deep, deep happiness. A joy which transcends the humble circumstances of her life. A joy which comes with a divine calling and a sense of purpose. A completeness originating in the soul connection she has with her God who is her maker and her savior, who is being knitted together in the secrecy of her womb.

The Lord is magnified because Mary radiates His love, and it is just infectious.

Find God this Christmas and allow your soul to magnify the Lord.

You could be the best gift ever to someone this Christmas.
