A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.
John 1:29-42
Do you ever wonder what it would have been like living in the Bible lands during Christ’s ministry? You have John the Baptist in full voice and if you happened to be there the day the apostle John is talking about, you might be able to say “Look! There goes the Son of God”. My boys say, “Look, there goes an Aston Martin” but I imagine that the excitement at seeing God incarnate would be insurmountable in comparison. Even though there were even fewer Aston Martins around at the time!
For the apostle John, John the Baptist fits into the grand plan of God in Jesus seamlessly. Sure, the Baptist had his own disciples, and there are those who still follow J the B’s teaching today. But these two prophets were not about who could have the biggest revival tent meetings, they had one common agenda. They were heralding the reign of God on earth. Many of John’s followers, to John’s delight, became followers of Jesus. It was not a matter of one losing one for the gain of another.
Everything is One in God!
