A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.
Matthew 16:13-20
“Who do people say I am?”, says Jesus to the disciples…
Who is God?
And for that matter, who am I,
Who are you and who are we?
Does your brain hurt? The question that Jesus poses to his disciples has all those implications. Who people say that Jesus is has a direct bearing on who they will be. If people say that Jesus is just a bloke with some alleged extraordinary attributes then they will be limited in their own personal potential to be any more extraordinary themselves. If you say that Jesus is the Messiah then in that confession you open yourself to all the enormous implications of Jesus’ teaching! You are then, a branch of the vine! You are then, a beloved Disciple! You are then, a bearer of good news! You are then, an heir of the Kingdom! You are then, nothing less than a child of God!!!
Who Jesus is, is the power for you to be the best you!
And that, Kingston Uniting Church/ Rowallan Park, is the basis of our community.
It’s all about Jesus.
