A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.

Matthew 14:22-33

It’s quite a fete, or perhaps they were quite some feet, that enabled a man, without the aid of a speed boat, water skis, surf board or inflatable floaty shoes to walk on top of water angered by the tumult! Clearly for Jesus, the laws of physics are, for the one who invented them, more guidelines anyway. But for Peter, there was much more at stake. So he responds to Jesus’ command.

“OK Peter, get out of the boat! Come to me on the water! You’ll be fine…”

So he did!

Peter got out of the boat, and walked on water!

And he was fine… until… the absurdity of what had unfolded began to sink in and he… began to sink in! What happened? When did things begin to go wrong? Peter just simply took his eyes off Jesus. How often in life do we start to sink until the words of that lovely old song impress upon our spirit to deliver us. Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace
