Luke 10:38-42
Welcome to church. It’s the first song, the notices have just been delivered. What are you thinking about? Are you thinking, “I’m Sprung! Dukey has caught me reading the news sheet during church!”? Or have you already started thinking about all you have to do after church is over? Are you hoping the service is led concisely, with an economy of words so that you can put Jesus back in the cupboard for the week and get on with the rest of your life of ministry? I mean, you have to get home and put the roast on don’t you?
Martha, Martha, Martha!
I cannot tell you how many of my colleagues and I reflect on how often we’re so busy serving our boss that they never spend any time with Him. How many times do we make this weekly appointment with Jesus but instead are “worried about many things”.
Well actually, just like my boss says…
“Few things are needed – or indeed only one.
Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken from her.”
