Notices 22nd March 2026

A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today.

John 11:1-45

The longest bible reading of this lectionary year contains within it the shortest verse in the bible.

“Jesus wept!”

He had no need for tears. He knew what was in his power to do, and, was going to do it all along. He was always going to put life back into Lazarus’s lifeless body.

But before he does this, moved by the grief of his friends Mary and Martha, he cries! Here, Jesus dispels one of the monumental myths manifest in the municipality of men!

Tears are not a sign of weakness!

Jesus is moved.

There is the sincerest love and empathy in those tears. There is the power of resurrection! I know now that I do not shed a single tear that is ignored, diminished or discounted.

Because Jesus is my friend too.

He sees them…
