“And now, I harbour a great affection for that little congregation…”
A special welcome to everyone joining us in worship at Kingston today. Please join us for a cuppa and drinks for the children after worship
John 15; Galatians 3:21-29
I grew up in a church. It was a small Congregational Church in Barmera. I remember being dragged there week after week, often against my will. But it wasn’t all bad. It was just kind of.., well you know.., well a bit last century. We had a choir who always sung an anthem, we had an organist who was from the first generation after Noah beached the ark, we had a Sunday School at which I often behaved badly, especially when my Mum was teaching… We did have an awesome youth group which was the only enjoyable social outlet I had in my sorry young life.
But it had love and it loved me well.
It loved me when it baptized me.
It loved me when it confirmed me and welcomed me into fullmembership.
It loved me when I left home, and eventually left the UnitingChurch completely.
It loved me even when I didn’t love it anymore.
And now, I harbour a great affection for that little congregation, even though I haven’t been to church there for years.
I owe them my knowledge of Christ and therefore I owe them my life.
I love Barmera Uniting Church.
She’s my mother.
